Privacy Policy

ClearPaw is built on the belief that your pet's health information is deeply personal. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider.

Pet profiles. Name, species, breed, date of birth, sex, and any health focus tags you add.

Vet visit content. Audio recordings, photos, PDFs, and documents you upload. We also store the transcriptions, extracted clinical facts, and summaries we generate from that content.

Health Q&A. Questions you ask and the responses we provide, including risk classifications used to route responses safely.

Payment information. Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or full payment details — only a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Usage data. Upload counts, Q&A query counts, and summary view timestamps. Used for rate limiting and to improve the product.

Device and browser data. Browser type and pages visited. IP addresses are not stored. We do not use advertising or marketing trackers.

Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand how ClearPaw is used — which pages are visited, which features are used, and where users encounter friction. Session recordings may be collected to identify UX issues; all form inputs are masked and no personal information is visible in recordings. This data is used solely to improve the product and is never used for advertising.

2. How we use your information

  • To process your vet visit recordings and documents into structured summaries
  • To answer health questions grounded in your actual vet records
  • To send medication reminders and recheck notifications
  • To deliver transactional emails (welcome, summary ready, recheck reminders)
  • To manage your subscription and enforce usage limits
  • To detect and prevent abuse
  • To improve the accuracy of our AI processing (using anonymized data only — see Section 4)

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Third-party services we use

We rely on the following providers to operate ClearPaw. Each receives only the data necessary for their function.

All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS). File storage uses Supabase Storage with row-level security — only you can access your files.

4. AI processing and anonymized data

Your vet visit content is sent to Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI (Whisper) for processing. This data is used only to generate your summaries and answers — it is not used to train those providers' models under our current agreements.

We may use anonymized, de-identified data (with all names, contact information, and identifiable pet details removed) to evaluate and improve ClearPaw's own processing quality. We will never share data that is traceable to you or your pet.

5. Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, pet profiles, visit recordings, and summaries within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal or financial compliance purposes (e.g., billing records required by law).

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data (contact us and we will provide it)
  • Opt out of non-essential communications at any time
  • Request analytics deletion — email us to request removal of your behavioral data from our analytics system

7. Children's privacy

ClearPaw is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice in the app. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
